Mark Paulda Is
Passionate About Helping Others

The photography business isn't always easy to navigate.  What was true yesterday may not necessarily be true today.  Sometimes, a career in photography might make you feel as if you're lost in the wilderness without a clear path forward.  You know what you want but you're not quite sure how to achieve the goals you've created for yourself.  You are unsure about how to "get there".

I've been exactly where you are.  I completely understand.  I've had the same frustrations you have and the disappointment when you don't move forward the way you thought you would.

85% of people who set out with the aim of earning money from photography give up.  Did you know this?  85% is an alarming number and one that twists and turns in my stomach.  It's true.  I want everyone to succeed no matter who you are or where you come from.  We all deserve success.  We all deserve ample recognition for our talents.

You have a great camera.  You either have a natural talent or have learned how capture incredible photographs; maybe you set up a website thinking people will flock there.  You are active on social media because that's what you've been told to do, and yet, your business doesn't seem to go the way you want it to go.  The guy who takes ho hum boring photos (ok, crappy photos) has a huge following and sees success while you're left wondering why this doesn't happen for you.  I get it.  Been there.  Done that.

This is why I'm here.  I want to help put you on the right path so you succeed in the photography business.  I want to help you realise your goals with your photography.

Why me?

And, how can I help you?

Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself.

I chose photography because I've always worked in a creative field..  I've always had a camera in my hands except I knew very little about photography except a camera's automatic mode.  I knew I couldn't sit in a classroom again.  I have a degree in education and a degree in marketing from the University of Texas and University of London.  Enough for me, I think.  So, I decided to search London photographers online.  When I found three photographers I liked, and whose work I admired, I emailed them and asked if I could work with them.  Surprisingly, they all said yes.  In the end, I only mentored with two of the photographers - an Israeli landscape photographer and a photographer whose work you've seen on many famous Rock n Roll album covers.   The mentoring experience was one-on-one and the best education I could have received.  I also had the luxury of practicing what I was being taught all day, every day, which boosted my skills and confidence.

Fast forward a bit.  I now travel the world.  Travel feeds my soul like nothing else can.  I've married travel and photography and love every minute of both.  I've walked over 120 miles with a Berber nomadic tribe in North Africa into the Sahara Desert; had my head high in the clouds in the Himalaya Mountains in Bhutan; talked my way backstage to the largest Tango Show in Buenos Aires, Argentina (without knowing Spanish); and have literally hung out of an airplane over the great White Sand Dunes of New Mexico.

Helping others is instilled in me.  It is the right thing to do.  Right now I'm helping a young man in Bali achieve his lofty goal of preserving Balinese culture and we are doing this through photography, video, music and writing.  Gede is his name and his talent is mind-blowing.  Since I started working with Gede, his images have appeared on the cover of magazines, his songs are played on Bali radio and his images and videos are used by the Indonesian Consulate in New York City to promote Indonesia around the world.  I have a track record helping others succeed and I've guided many other aspiring photographers as well.

On the business side of photography, I treat it as such - a business.   My images have been seen in magazines across the world; a book publisher put their faith in me and I have a variety of books released - three of which best sellers and their fastest selling books; my work on "Recollections" by Asia Featuring John Payne received a Grammy nomination for Best Album Art; a reputable art company represents my images; there is a huge product line of journals with my images gracing the covers; and my travel blog ranks anywhere from number one to number three on the first page of Google.  I say all this not to impress or even for you to roll your eyes.  I share this information only to say I know about the photography business and how to make it work in today's uncertain world.  I also know how to build a photography business last.

I'm a big believer in creating my own opportunities and this is where I can help you a lot.  I believe success starts with me.  It starts with you, too.  And, needless to say, I think big.  I can also help motivate you to achieve your goals.
